Barbara Strang, a 17 year resident of Concord, is strongly rooted in the community. Her son and daughter both attended Cabarrus County public schools, where Barbara served as PTO/PTA President for 6 years, first at Winecoff Elementary, and then at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School.

Although her son, an Eagle Scout, is now in college, Barbara remains an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 221, sponsored by Calvary Lutheran Church in Concord, where she stresses civic education and support for the less fortunate.

Barbara is a recent graduate of the Charlotte School of Law where she earned a Juris Doctor degree.  While attending law school she was selected to represent the Charlotte School of Law at the National Negotiations Competition held at William and Mary Law School in Virginia.  Prior to attending Law School, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and in Political Science from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she served as a N.C. Student Legislature Delegate. In this capacity she drafted and presented two House Bills in Raleigh, North Carolina dealing with child welfare and police safety – two causes very important to her.

Barbara’s commitment to the Concord community extends beyond her support for scouting and public education.

  • In 2005, she organized and served as President of the Winecoff Neighborhood Community Association.

  • She represented the interests of children at risk as a Guardian ad Litem for Judicial District 19A in Cabarrus County

  • She served as National Night-Out Chairperson in her community, in an effort to raise awareness of crime prevention.

  • She has worked with the N.C. Department of Transportation in the reduction of speed-limits, as well as traffic safety concerns.
